Capacity building for coastal stewardship

🌊 The training on strengthening capacities for coastal stewardship was successfully held on 11 November 2025 in Shkodër, within the framework of the COASTRUST – Promoting joint stewardship for Mediterranean coasts project.

📍 The activity was organized by the Institute for Nature Conservation in Albania (INCA) with the support of the Prefecture of Shkodër, as an associated partner of the project.

🤝 During the meeting, project objectives, achievements to date, and the joint methodology for implementing coastal stewardship in the pilot area Buna River – Velipojë Protected Landscape (BRVPL) were presented. Participants contributed to a more comprehensive mapping of natural resources, discussed building cooperative networks among local institutions, communities, and businesses, and worked on strengthening the capacities of local authorities, NGOs, and the private sector.

🌿 This activity marks an important step towards establishing the Local Action Group for Coastal Stewardship, ensuring active involvement of communities and institutions in safeguarding the natural values of the area.
